Next Time I Meet With A Prospect...

This article from TIME magazine points out that Essential Oils (like Lavender and Peppermint) can have noticeable effects on our emotions and attitudes.  I can't wait to try this out myself next time I have someone over to talk about the business with me :)   Dennis

You Can Make People Trust You With This Scent, Study Says

Researchers in the Netherlands led by cognitive psychologist Lorenza Colzato knew that how we respond to others depends not not only on our relationships but also on environment, the authors write. One 1997 study, for instance, showed that prosocial behavior, like picking up a dropped item from the floor, went up significantly when pleasant fragrances were in the air—rather than when air just smelled like air.
The researchers wanted to further test the theory that smell influences behavior so they set up a trust game in a room misted with one of two aromas: lavender, which is considered soothing, and peppermint, which is associated with alertness and energy. The researchers put a few drops of essential oils, diffused by a candle, in the room before the 90 young adults in the study came in to play.
The trust game is a test behavioral researchers use to measure levels of trust. One person (the “trustor”)

Stop Worrying...Just Breathe...

7 SURPRISING THINGS THAT CAN HELP YOU STOP WORRYING

HOW NIBBLING ON CHOCOLATE AND SNIFFING A GRAPEFRUIT CAN HELP YOU STOP FRETTING OVER THINGS YOU CAN'T CONTROL.

What has you up at night? The economy? The divided government? Jobs? Health care? Ebola?
According to an October 2014 Gallup poll, Americans worry about a lot of issues. Many of those things are outside of our control, and worrying just compounds the grief.
According to a study by the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, worrying can have long-term chronic health consequences, including cardiovascular disease.
How do you stop? While exercise is a commonly prescribed cure for easing your worries—it’s considered better than Xanax because it releases feel-good hormones—you don’t have to break a sweat to calm your fears.
Here are seven other actions you can take to take your mind off of your troubles:

1. CHANGE YOUR BEDTIME

If you like to stay up late at night, you might be feeding your inner worrier. Researchers at Binghamton University in New York found that people who go to bed very late and sleep for short amounts of time are more overwhelmed with negative thoughts than those who keep more regular sleeping hours. They tend to worry about the future and dwell over past events, and they have a higher risk of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
"Making sure that sleep is obtained during the right time of day may be an inexpensive and easily disseminable intervention for individuals who are bothered by intrusive thoughts," said Jacob Nota, one of the study’s researchers.

2. SMELL A GRAPEFRUIT

Breathing in certain aromas can help reduce stress. In a study at James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, researchers tested the effect of pleasant-smelling essential oils by diffusing them in the central nurses station. Oncology nurses, who frequently suffer from work-related stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout, reported significant improvements in tension, worry, and demands over the course of the study.
One of the essential oils tested was grapefruit, which is refreshing and revitalizing, and helped boost the body’s feelings of energy and happiness.

Linens, Cleaning and Relaxation

Here are some useful tips for you.  It is amazing to me as I discover more uses for Essential Oils every day!  Dennis

Aromatherapy at home can be easy

A diffuser is great, but there are other ways in which you can use your essential oils at home

For linens

Add a few drops of eucalyptus or lavender oil to your laundry detergent for a fresh fragrance. You can also use an aromatherapy fragrance spray for a lingering scent on your clean linens or even while ironing clothes. Essential oils also assist in killing bacteria, so if you have a pet at home it is the best way to rid the linen of bacteria.

While cleaning

Using harsh chemicals to clean the refrigerator or tables can have it's drawbacks. Instead put a few drops of orange essential oil on your cleaning cloth to wipe surfaces. You can also mix essential oil with water in a spray bottle and use it as a cleanser. Just spray it on the table and wipe off with a cloth, you will have a scent of orange left behind. Essential oils also retain the cleansing properties of their botanical origin.

For relaxation

For those who have trouble sleeping at night, essential oils can do wonders. A few drops of lavender oil or sandalwood oil on your pillow or your bedsheet will relax you. You can also add the oil to your bath or rub a few drops on to your temples. It helps in relaxation and gives an instant relief

Dangers of Synthetic Scents

Why not just use a scented candle or one of those "plug-in" diffusers to get the desired scents into the air?  Well, because most of those commercially-produced products will diffuse some VERY serious chemicals that are carried directly into your body.  Know the dangers!  Dennis

Natural Fragrances to Scent Your Home This Holiday Season

I still get a kick out of seeing commercials where people walk into a home and “follow their nose” to the tempting scent. Little do they know what they are actually smelling! A 2007 study by the National Resource Defense Council found that chemicals such as phthalates, limonene, volatile organic compounds (such as benzene and formaldehyde) are all key ingredients in many scented products. Unfortunately, regardless of how many pictures of flowers and meadows appear on the containers of these products, these chemicals are easily absorbed by our skin and air passageways and can cause some serious health problems.

The Nasties to Avoid

Phthalates are known to affect male reproductive hormones, cause birth defects, and are a contributor to asthma as well as other allergic symptoms. We are exposed to about five varieties of these per day through scented products. Limonene is a known allergen that is found in many scented products because it creates an artificial citrus scent. For those with allergies, stay away. This chemical will almost certainly trigger some sort of undesirable reaction, be it a rash, asthma attack, or some other allergic reaction. VOCs including benzene and formaldehyde—we have all heard about these. Both are known to cause cancers. Exposure to benzene is known to cause leukemia and formaldehyde is known to cause a host of cancer and related troubles to our respiratory systems.
Knowing these chemicals are lurking behind those pretty pictures, do you think you’ll be running out to buy a scented candle or a plug-in product any time soon? If you want your home to smell like the holidays but would rather avoid the chemical warfare that can come along with it, give these tricks a try for a truly clean and fresh-smelling home with holiday flare.

The Other Side of Our Business

I want to post something a little different today so that you will be encouraged to take advantage of another website I’ve put together to help you with “the other side” of our business.

What do I mean by “the other side” of our business?

I’m talking about the MONEY potential that the Nu Skin opportunity represents.

Now for most people, the hardest thing about telling someone about the financial potential of our business is knowing exactly WHAT TO SAY and WHERE to begin.  Am I right?

For some reason it’s relatively easy to talk about our products to people you meet. But WHY is it that we FREEZE UP and start getting nervous when we even THINK about approaching the subject of MONEY and the financial side of our business model???

I think I know why.

We’ve all experienced a phone call from someone we knew briefly in high school or college, who proceeds to tell us “how much they’ve been thinking about us” and how they’re dying to “get together and catch up.”

So you end up having lunch with them and after the small talk is out of the way, they say something like “I was wanting to get your opinion on something.  I just started a new home business and I think you would just be perfect for it!”

So…before you’ve even finished your appetizer, you begin to realize that the ONLY reason they wanted to meet with you in the first place was to pitch their MLM business!

Grrrrrrr!

So…how do you avoid being accused of that kind of misleading behavior?  And how do you keep from coming across to your friends and business contacts as “one of those kinds of people”?

Believe me when I tell you, it’s much easier than you thinkand it all comes down to a very simple principle.

Do you want to know what it is?
